Dreadknight Finished

Ok the grand finale and my centerpiece for the new Grey Knights! The base is made from some 40k scenery bits along with the basing kit. Im quite satisfied with it, altho i need to pracise alot more on how to make powerswords like 'eavy metal does. But considering its my second one, its not too shabby.

Dreadknight WIP

So, the Dreadknight is almost done, got some small details left + weapons and its ready to go! Took about a whole day to get it done... yawn

The Dread Knight taking shape

So the DreadKnight is beginning to take shape, boltgunned. The "black"areas are painted with a 30/70 boltgun/black, I was quite unsure on how to paint those areas as this is my first "big" 40k thing bar the raider that ive painted. Next step is chainmail(which ive already done) then wash it with blue and black around the resesses(or how ever u type it) then a final highlight of mithril silver. NOT looking forward to paint the sword, it will probably take a nights work or more.

Delving into the Grey Knights

So I have read the dex a few times, and decided that im not gonna use it for competative play(if I ever go down that road with 40k) at the start. There is way to much cool stuff in there for me to solely focus on making one hardbreaking list like the ML spam /TwC spam my SW can do. Now in the leaked dex the Dreadknight was fearsome indeed. After beeing tuned down quite abit its now above average for his cost tbh. He can do alot of triksy stuff, which can help out quite alot. The people discussing that he becomes a jump infantery if you give him a teleporter instead of a MC is something im not gonna be bothered with doing. Its clearly a missprint and thats how it is. If not I can see a stormraven with 3 of those inside becomming regular.. oh wait. Anyway, unless my oponent actually feels that is right, he is gonna be played as an MC creature with a teleporter.. As per matt tards intention regarding some blog he posted a while back iirc. Now I didnt have any GK figures bar the Justicar, now i have 5 termies the dreadknight and im gonna repaint the SW dreadnaught to be a GK dread. Since i dont use it with the SW, and im gonna use those with my GK to add some ranged anti tank. To get 2x autocannons im probably gonna buy that terrain piece with 2x autocannons on it, take the autocannons for the dread and use the rest as terrain. Good deal ! Most lists ive seen is either consisting of pure GK or pure henchmens. I love both elements of the book, so im probably gonna mix and max most of it into a force to be reconed with. something along this line
Grandmaster various eq
Librarian
2x10 GK halberds 2xpsicanons,2hammers rhino
10 purifiers 4 psicanons, halberds razor/rhino
inq henchmen:3 assasins,3 warrs 3 crusaders 2 arco flaggs
7paladins apo BB halberds 2xpsicanons
2x dreads m 2x TL autocanons psiammo
dreadknight

something along those lines i guess. Im not entirely sure if im gona use the librarian and might switch him for something else. when it comes down to the list im abit unsure if I have enough antitank. But I do belive that I have, atleast for our casual play. I love the paladins, so im bringing a unit of those. The forgeworld dread is absolutely stunning, so I want one of those. then im using my already mentioned dread aswell. I got models for both the flaggs(fantasy models) and crusaders. So i think im gonna get the wyches for assasins, if im not just gonna buy the metal ones. Overall its a fairly balanced list, if going competative Im not realy sure. Since I havent played much against any other than Eldars. But the recipe for making lists in warhammer still applies to warhammer 40k. U need to have the right tool for the job, or else you basicly screwed. A good general without the right tools can still beat a bad general with the right tools. And since I for now falls into the latter category, i need the right tools. So what i think will make this viable for tourney play is to switch the knight with another autocannon dread and the inq band with more purifiers/normal GKS. Now why? Well, as my little game experience allows me to rabble, for GK it will work like this(correct me if im wrong) Get the tanks dead, and u win. I think i almost can say that nothing can handle the paladins in CC. I dont think many can handle the purifiers in CC. And I even think u can outshot most armies if u crack their tanks. After the tanks are hopefully gone, u go after the second biggest threat. Other shooty things. Now this is rather basic, kill what can kill you first, and do it right. Not that hard is it? Now my problem is that I dont know what can kill me good, and what can't bar from SW and Eldar. Plasma will be a problem, but unless people actually do alter their lists to now include that, thats a smaller problem. Ive seen plasma canons turn up in some lists now around the web. Anyway, eldars is what I play against, and we play mainly for fun. Warhammer is what we play when we want to be a competative lot. Altho SW doesnt realy favor casual play, but nothing I can do about that(no i dont bring 15 MLs or 8 TWCs) Enough rambling for today.

The Grey Knights are here!

So I have recieved the "black box" and unravelled in the mystery about these mythical beeings from a place called Titan. I picked up a test figure over half a year ago waiting like a little child for this release. I love Paladins, if I can play it, I do! Be it wow, dnd, pathfinder etc. So, before I do anything else ive painted a test figure, it misses its backpack, which is why I think I got it dirt cheap at the store(without actually remembering)

So here it is!

10 internet money to the guy actually comming by here, that can guess whats behind him!

Update! Pictures will follow during the evening/tomorrow

So, I havent updated the blog in quite some time, altho I have been doing a lot of painting.  What I have assembled and painted thus far since the last update:
2 Rhinoes
15 Grey hunters/wolfguards(magnetized to be either + LF ML when I get the ML’s)
5 Long Fangs
All the bases for PA and a Rune Priest.
This means that my Space Wolf army is complete with the exeption of 10 MLs,termie bases and backpacks for half the army(I realy REALY hate to paint those.. good riddance to them all I say)

Im not sure if I should post here or go back to warseer blogging,  since this blog aint getting much attention nor many visitors.
